Andrea Mitchell

Andrea Mitchell is an American television anchor, journalist and commentator on NBC News based in Washington D.C. As a child living in New York City, Mitchell received a degree in English literature at the University of Pennsylvania. Mitchell began her professional career as a journalist with KYW Radio and TV, Philadelphia in the year 1967. Then she became a reporter with the CBS-affiliate WDVM-TV, (then WTOP), which was based in Washington DC. In Washington she was made general reporter by NBC News a year later. The first time she covered the White House in 1981 and was made chief of the congressional correspondent within the year 1988. She was promoted to Chief White House correspondent in 1992 as well as chief foreign reporter at NBC News in 1994. Mitchell is a regular in the TV news program Meet the Press as a panelist as well as host. Mitchell was a panelist during the debates for president in 1988, between George Bush and Michael Dukakis. Mitchell is the spouse of Alan Greenspan who was the previous chairman of the Federal Reserve Board. In 2005, Mitchell received the prestigious Goldsmith Career Award for Excellence in Journalism from the John F. Kennedy School of Government and in 2004 in 2004, the Radio-Television News Directors Association (RTNDA) awarded Mitchell by awarding her the Leonard Zeidenberg Award for her contributions to the protection and protection of First Amendment Freedoms. Mitchell was a reporter at The White House first for NBC News between 1981 and 1988, in the two years that Ronald Reagan served as president. Mitchell reported on many noteworthy stories that included arms control taxes on the budget, as well as the Iran Contra scandal. She also traveled to many summits with the help of President Reagan and Mikhail Gorbachev.
